Red Solo Cup

Somebody with a sense of humor made laugh with country music instead of laugh at it. TK you are funny.

Guest Artist- Chris Coy

I have Chris Coy in the studio this week. Chris just graduated from USC with a Masters of Fine Art. Chris is super awesome to make the trek to Utah with his computer to do some title, logo and design magic. Chris is in the "in-between chapters" part of his life, it will be cool to see what he does next. I am trying to finish up this project and get some bike rides in and trips to the lake in before I head to Europe for 4 weeks. Happy Tuesday.

Friends with Tractors

Home. Wasatch Demolition Derby to celebrate. A world class Derby, by the way, best one I have ever seen. A few ambulance rides, fires, funny dance contests and songs like "Friends with Tractors." No comment on the modern country music! haha!

Dan Price in The Surfer's Journal

Okay the family surf trip is about over, tomorrow we head home. We had a great time surfing everyday and relaxing in the sunshine. In honor of the surf trip I give one of my favorite drawing guys Dan Price when he was featured in one the greatest paper magazines of all time The Surfer's Journal.

Ozzie Wright

THIS IS OZZIE - TOME 3 from Desillusion Magazine on Vimeo.

I like this guy Ozzie Wright. This is a great video from Desillusion Magazine by filmmaker Sebastien Zenella. The only bummer about the video is there is none of Ozzie's art so I added the second short video below.

The New York Times & Casey Neistat

The New York Times is my favorite newspaper (and they are keeping modern by doing great videos.) Casey Neistat is my favorite filmmaker so when the NYT and Casey team up it is usually good. Check it out!

Queens Art / Socrates Sculpture Park

While in NYC city and rowing from the Bronx to Governor's Island we stopped at Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens and saw these legendary pieces of art. There is cool art everywhere in New York City.

Tiger

On family vacation, this Tiger is a big part of our family tradition.

A Blog I like, Wo & We'

I check out this guy's blog almost everyday Wo & We'. He makes lamps in France, maybe? haha! His blog seems to have little to do with his craft and more to do with his inspiration---it has lots of cool art, design and architecture. Happy Wednesday.

UK Flag

Just got word that I am heading to the UK to do 3 half hour documentaries for "Turning Point"...well it looks like Ireland for 1 and 2 stories in England. More details later. For now I need to finish up a very nice vacation and finish up a project when I get home. I wish I could spend most of the summer at home sailing and swimming but I have to feed the kids, oh well this will be a fun trip. Life is good. (photo: UK flag in my sketchbook/journal)

Cassandra Barney and Brian Kershisnik

While in California I am missing a great show with 2 of Utah's art superstars, Cass and Brian. I love both of them and their art. The show is at Kayo Gallery in Salt Lake City.

Doheny again...

We are on our yearly So. Cal. trip. We are having a great time and surfing everyday at Doheny State Beach. In my opinion it is one of the greatest beginner breaks around and we love it. Photo: My kids with a cousin. Have a Good Weekend.

Stalking Casey Neistat

Well not really stalking but I am not going to lie to you Casey Neistat is then most exciting filmmaker is my world right now. While in New York I found his studio and took a photo one late night. ...also here is the his most recent video not one of his best videos but still very Casey Neistat-ish. Have a good Weekend.

Rocking the Boat, New York Times Video

HERE is the video the New York Times was shooting when we were at "Rocking the Boat" in the Bronx last week. It is nice and features Michael Kimmelman the guy that wrote the book on art I like, "The Accidental Masterpiece: On the Art of Life and Vice Versa." The video is a great look RTB, the Bronx River and Adam Green.

Some Fine Art by Ty Williams

Scott Strode of Phoenix Multisport

I just watched the picture-locked editor's cut of the documentary I directed for Turning Point about "Phoenix Multisport" and I am super happy with it. Thanks to the great team of producers, editors and people that keep giving me great stories to tell. Scott is a great guy and Phoenix is an amazing organization. I love the people I have met on this series, people that are making me a better person, thank you all. This episode will air early August, I will let you know. Peace!

Banksy

I like this clever piece by Mr. Banksy on the back of an old painting. I am trying to enjoy my vacation but I have a bit of stuff I have to catch up on.

Nacho Libre

On the drive to So. Cal. my kids watched Nacho Libre in the car on my laptop. Doing the behind-the-scenes for this movie with my old partner Tim was such a treat. Jared Hess is epic, Jack Black was so funny to shoot and shooting in Oaxaca, Mexico was amazing. Enjoy a short clip from the movie, if you check out the DVD you can see our behind-the-scenes material. Happy Wednesday.

10 Rules from John Cage

A while ago I posted 10 rules from artist Sister Corita, but I think that were John Cage's ideas (I think she credits him, I just didn't get it-- great ideas though).

So. Cal.

In So. Cal. for family trip, water, a little art and some work I have to take care of. Happy Tuesday.

New York Jazz Station WGBO

While in NYC I have been listen to this brilliant Jazz station WGBO. With this crazy new world I will have to listen to this at home online. Photo #1 random web search Photo #2 from the WBGO site, it reminds me of one of my favorite New York City memories, a Sunday Central Park impromptu drum circle/roller disco/dance party/Sunday Celebration, I love this town.

Rocking the Boat (another Turning Point)

Okay so I am directing another documentary for "Turning Point" about an organization in the Bronx called "Rocking the Boat." A new Casey Neistat Movie

It's about time, Thanks Casey and Owen and a late happy 4th to all.

Michael Kimmelman on Art

I read one of this guy's books a few years ago and liked some of the ideas he kicked around. The book is called "The Accidental Masterpiece: On the Art of Life and Vice Versa." Well today I ran into him at Rocking the Boat in The Bronx, he was doing a video for the New York Times about Adam Green and the the kids of Rocking the Boat. We chatted for a bit about his book and the Bronx River. He seemed happy that I recognized him from his book. Here are a few clips of him chatting about art, some cool stuff to think about.

NYC

Shooting in NYC for a week, legendary producer Rich Patch found us a great apartment to stay in close to Central Park. Photo: The view from our apartment's roof, Happy Monday.
