The Beehive Bazaar

This weekend is the Beehive Bazaar in Provo,Utah, my wife Noelle is one of the owners. The Beehive Bazaar is a handmade/DIY arts and craft sale/fair, a great place to get funky stuff as gifts for Christmas. This year I helped out and with the help of the folks at the local NBC TV station KSL, we managed to get 4 days of TV coverage- 2 mini profiles, my wife was on the show "Studio 5" and they shot live at the opening day of the sale. Art.Work in China

Here is the documentary I directed and photographed about music students collaborating with Chinese music students. These students were super talented and China is an amazing place. Enjoy.

The Talking Fly (#9)

Had art time with the kids in the garage today, so I thought I would make another Talking Fly ad. The Talking Fly is a video project that I am launching on YouTube that will feature short documentaries, some stand-alone and some longer shows cut into 2 to 5 minute pieces- like a web series of sorts, anyway it will be just a place to explore passion and/or nonfiction filmmaking.

Brain Kershisnik Re-Do

We have one small original Brian Kershisnik painting and I have always hated the frame, so I ripped it out of the frame and gave Brian some paint pens. I like the Re-Do a lot.

A Hillman Curtis Book

Here is great book by the late Hillman Curtis, the title says it all "Hillman Curtis on Creating Short Films for the Web." The technical info is outdated, but the spirit of this book is spot on, at least for me. Here is a short Hillman Curtis documentary that I think is peaceful and nice. Happy Monday.

Vinylicious at Beehive Bazaar

Yesterday I spent the day with Kanani Hayes of Vinylicious Designs. She is one the artist in this year's Beehive Bazaar. I have lined up some TV stuff for B.B. this year that will play on the local NBC TV station KSL. The piece on Kanani will be a short artist bio shot in her studio. My wife Noelle is one of the owners of Beehive Bazaar.

Brighter Future Workshop, Turning Point now online

The documentary I directed about an awesome place in England is now online check it out. It is all about sunshine and smiles. This is my 10th Turning Point adventure. Thanks to Cosmic and the great crew that traveled to England.

The amazing Utah artist, Brian Kershisnik, spoke at the Creative Collaborative last week. I did not go but I love the notes I got in an email ReCap: Work hard, and work a lot - it takes a lot of work to find your voice / Follow the thread that speaks to you / It is important to enjoy yourself / As artists, it is our job to feel / Take care of your home turf - be active in the community that you live / Establish lasting contacts with the people around you, and take time to give back / It's tough for God to steer a parked car / Good symbols will put themselves into the work better than you can force them in.

World Flags

I love flags for some reason. My kids is going to be an foreign exchange student in Costa Rica and we all started talking about our favorite world flags at dinner. I love this country and most of the other ones that I have visited, it is a beautiful world.

100 Yard Swim in under a minute

All this talk of politics, okay I will change the subject to my fitness goals... swim 100 yards in less than a minute. Last timed check-in swim 1:04, I have to drop a second on every length of the pool. The photo: The US president body surfing. (I love water) Happy Wednesday.

Irish Men's Sheds -watch it here

Here is the documentary about the Irish Men's Sheds that I directed this summer. I am super happy with how it turned out. I love how "Turning Point" celebrates these awesome big hearted people. Big thanks to the crew- Ty Arnold, Rich and Randi Patch, the producers at Cosmic, the Lewis brothers and the whole postproduction team... Thank you all. John ends the show with a quote that he liked, I just goggled it and found it was a Wayne Dyer quote...

And finally a huge thanks to John Evoy and the Irish Men that made ups feel at home in Ireland. Thank you. This TV show has changed my life. In the spirit of Thanksgiving month I say again THANK YOU, THANK YOU all.

Irish Men's Sheds on Turning Point today

It was a great shoot, John is a great guy and we had so much fun shooting in beautiful Ireland. (the guy on the left is John's buddy Denis, he is involved in the sheds as well and he has great hair)
