South Shore Drill Team -now online

The documentary I directed about "South Shore Drill Team" has been on TV and is now online, check it out. This group was so cool and fun to shoot. The parade scene at the end of this show is legendary, it is one of the coolest pieces of art/dance/music performances I have ever seen. Thanks Cosmic, the crew and South Shore.

TJ and Nasty

Vintage stickers from TJ Lavin and Cory "Nasty" Nastazio. When my 8 year old found my stash of old BMX stuff I know I had to give him my last TJ and Nasty stickers. I have made films about both of these guys, they are both legendary dudes and riders. Today I drive to Colorado to direct a "Turning Point" TV show.

I "WAS" rad

HAHA! my friend Bryan Miles FBed this old photo of me Skating a ramp while was in college. He said, "Proof that you were rad."

St. Boheme

Friday night I headed to Salt Lake City to look at art and relax a bit. As I was cruising around on my bike I ran into these guys, St. Boheme, perfect street music for a warm spring night. Happy Monday.

Swimming Art

You get swimming art because I had such a good swim this morning with my olympic buddy. I like this piece by Richard Lewer from Australia.

Rain or Shine

One of the many Fuel TV promos I shot back in the day. Shot with my Arri S/B 16mm camera with Black and White film. I like these flat land cats, talk about dedication. The rain was not scripted it just happened and we rolled with it. To me this spot is about enjoying being in public places and grooving other peoples "art" if you will. Have a good weekend.

Summer Sailing

OK, Sailing season is here. Here is a little video I did last year with my buddy Phillip the master French sailor. I was in the water with a GoPro, Funny. And this music, my favorite french folk music, I listen to it all the time. Check out Park City Sailing Association if you are interested in sailing in Utah. Geoff the guy that started the fleet is a legend, super vision man! I have a ton of fun with these folks on the water. Happy Thursday

A Brief History of John Baldessari

I present to you the "Best Short OnLine NonFiction Video of 2012" (according to me) This thing is brilliant. Narrated by Tom waits, made by the Catfish guys, edited by the guy that edited Casey Neistat's around the world video. (I had nothing to do with this video, I just love it!!!)

Respecting William Wegman

I fell in love with William Wegman through his early video work. Now I just love him because he has made a living in art just being William Wegman, with a little help from his dogs. My kids grew up with these dogs with bedtime stories from Wegman's kids books. Video #2 in the video below is one my favorite Wegman videos, the spelling one. Happy Tuesday.

Hobie Cat

Summer is around the corner. Here is a photo I took of my brother Scott from a million years ago. He was the one that got me interested in sailing. I have a great group of people I sail with around here, The Park City Sailing Association. I have a sailing film project I am going to try to do this summer, details will be here soon. Speaking of sailing here is a re-post of the Turning Point I directed/D.P.ed about sailing.

The Color Run

Here is one of the videos about The Color Run that I worked on (with about 5 other filmmakers). This event is such a good time and so much fun to film.

Writing in College

One of my first paid jobs after I graduated from college was to do this film about writing in college. It was meant to a discussion starter in writing classes. Teachers that have used it say it really works. To me it is about any creative job or task, if fact I quote it all the time, one of favorite quotes is from Matt Black... "Saying there is only one way to write it like saying there is only one way to think." OH yeah the film is called "A State of Confusion: Students Talk about Writing in College" Enjoy, pass this off to a school teacher you know and have a good weekend.

Todd Dever - graphics and animation reel

Just stumbled into this online, Todd Dever's graphics and animation reel. I had the privilege of working with Todd on many projects at Fuel TV, in fact on his reel at 1:35 you see a few seconds of one of my favorite spots I did for Fuel TV, a spot called "Ranch Exit" Todd did the logo treatment and named the spot, here is the whole spot.

Christopher Walken reads "Where the Wild Things Are"

OK sorry I could not resist I had to share this.

Maurice Sendak RIP

"Where the Wild Things Are" a classic. We have read it a jillion times around here. I loved Spike Jonze's movie too and Noelle made an amazing Max costume for our boy a few years ago.
Here is a great little behind-the-scenes piece about Maurice, Spike, the book and the movie. I love the way Maurice talks about Spike and the filmmakers..."young people...goofy, crazy, whacked out but dramatically gifted."

Utah Artist Documentary Showcase

The Utah Division of Arts and Museums did this very cool site that features my film about Joe Bennion. It is an honor to be featured with these great filmmakers and artists including Doug Snow, LeConte Stewart and Maestro Maurice Abravanel. Check it out here.

Fuzzy thanks for letting me document your passion over the years. Happy Monday

I got work on a cool TV show called "Audio-Files" with awesome producer Matt Eastin and director Julian Acosta. The band was "Sleeper Agent" a cool loud band from Kentucky with tons of energy. Have a good weekend and thanks for the birthday wishes, My friend, Brent Hulme, calls this day "Stevo de Mayo" because it is my birthday. (I had nothing to do with this video, I just want to share it with you because this band rocks and I love Pinatas)

Documentary Pow-Wow

Had a casual impromptu docmentary pow-wow at the house today, it involved tacos, stories and relaxing on the porch at the office with Matt Black, Dave Boyle and not pictured Boston McConnaughney--- all good people in my life that I work and play with. Peace brothers.

The Sartorialist

Yesterday I got to shoot in the west desert of Utah, out by Dugway. I shot behind-the-scenes of a fashion shoot. It was fun and there is a lot of creative energy floating around, ...but I guess I should keep it a secret till they launch the new line. Anyway it got me thinking about The Satorialist, ...another example of someone making their own world with the internet. It is a cool mix of street photography, new school blog and a pretty down-to-earth look at fashion. Check out this video (another example of short online nonfiction-my fav). Happy Thursday.
